In the early 1990s, InternetLitigators was among the first law firms to identify its primary practice area as “Internet Law,” and was formally founded in 1999 to assist early adopters using the internet for business. InternetLitigators participated in and commented upon early drafts of the CAN-SPAM Act and other first-of-its-kind internet legislation.

Early clients sought out the firm because they recognized the internet would profoundly change business, e-commerce, transactions, finance, and litigation. In those days, InternetLitigators led seminars for other lawyers explaining what the internet was, how it differed from earlier online services, and how it would impact operations. As web hosting and data centers emerged, the firm became an early leader representing hosts, domain registrars and registries, data centers, and other internet infrastructure companies—as well as businesses building an online presence.

Today, while the internet continues to evolve, it has become a ubiquitous utility for businesses and customers alike.
